Full-time, Location: Vienna, Austria
The Opportunity
Do you want to actively drive the development of new products and significantly influence our product roadmap? As a Senior member of our Innovation Team, you have the opportunity to be part of the heart of Engineering. You'll take on the overall technical responsibility for complex projects and contribute directly to our product success with your extensive Product Engineering expertise.
Your Mission
As a Senior Product Engineer at woom, you will act largely independently and assume the technical lead for large, complex, and/or numerous projects. You will be the sole Engineering representative in many interdisciplinary teams.
Your primary responsibility is ensuring the technical viability of projects, particularly during the early innovation and concept development phases. You will lead the technical product development cycle from initial concept, through development and validation, to industrialisation.
- Engineering Project Coordination: You align regularly with Project Management to organise and moderate interdisciplinary project meetings. You define and coordinate Engineering work packages, delegating these to assigned Product Engineers and/or external engineers where necessary. You are responsible for tracking the timely delivery of these work packages and reporting on their progress to the Engineering team.
- In-Depth Design Validation: You pre-qualify your designs using advanced methods, including Tolerance Stack Analyses, Bolted Joint Calculations, Collision & Wall Thickness Checks, and conducting Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
- Comprehensive 3D Design & Industrialisation: You own the CAD data for your project(s). You give due consideration to Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) throughout the development process and create complete 2D manufacturing drawings according to current standards. You are responsible for the accurate storage and release of your technical documentation through the PDM system.
Your skills
- A proven track record in the bicycle or consumer goods industries is essential. A passionate, hands-on mentality – your readiness to 'get your hands dirty' with practical tasks – is also a big plus we value generally
- Familiarity with plastic product engineering is an extra plus ;)
- You have experience in working and steering external engineers.
- Excellent proficiency in SolidWorks (3D CAD) is an absolute must. Additionally, you should be well-versed in and keep up-to-date with Product Data Management tools.
- Your self-motivation, independence and proactiveness drives you to find new ways, to solve problems and provides you new perspectives.
- You are known to work independently on your own projects and guiding different stakeholders or teams through the process.
- You enjoy hands-on prototyping, but are equally comfortable creating complete 2D manufacturing drawings according to current standards.
- You are fluent in English. German is a definite plus.
