Scouting Analyst North West England Burnley Football Club are an established Premier League team based in the North West of England and are one of the original founding members of the football league.

THE ROLE Directed by the Head of Analytics, the aim of this role is to report on Elite level football players both domestically and internationally. In this role you will need to be both analytical and organised with a natural ability to present information in a concise and informative manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Production of concise written reports generated via the department recruitment database
  • Watching games on video and completing reports to deadlines
  • Using online research methodologies for the Identification of players. (WyScout, InStat)
  • Managing and organising information provided by the department

KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Good understanding of how data insight can contribute to the development of recruitment
  • Tactical knowledge, desirable experience in opposition and performance analyst role
  • Computer literate using MS Office and Apple Software
  • Video editing (Video Paint, iMovie)
  • Presentation skills (Key Note, Power Point, Tableau)
  • Good knowledge of football preferred at elite level.
  • Good knowledge of European leagues
  • High quality written and communication skills
  • Experience of Production of reports (ISF/Sco)
     


THE CANDIDATE: KEY OBBJECTIVES

Contribute to the Club making critical performance-related decisions through the production of sophisticated data and data models
Work in a collaborative fashion with all those involved in performance-related decision making including the Technical Director, Head of Data Analytics & Performance Technology and the Head of Recruitment RESPONSIBILITES Technical
Watching games on video and completing reports to deadline
Using online research methodologies for the identification of players including WyScout and InStat
Design innovative technology-based processes which contribute to the gathering and analysis of data COMMUNICATION
Production of concise written reports generated via the department recruitment database
Produce high quality reports which simply explain what the data and information predict
Respond at short-notice to requests from the Football leadership team
EXPERIENCE

Track record (2 – 4 years) of providing data analytics and analysis support in a high-performance sports organisation.
Experience of operating as an Opposition or Performance analyst in a Professional football environment will be an advantage
Knowledge of UK and European leagues will be an advantage
Production of reports via ISF or Scout 7
Video Editing and Presentation skills (Video Paint, iMovie, Key Note, Power Point, Tableau) Skills
Strong communicator with ability to translate complex information into practical recommendations
Game Coding (Sports Code)
Interpolating statistical data. Data visualisation (Excel, VBA, SQL, “R”) Qualifications
Minimum of an Undergraduate degree (essential) in a sport’s related subject (desirable)
Masters level qualification in a relevant field dealing with complex data / statistical modelling (desirable)
Professional accreditation as a performance analyst (desirable)
DESIRABLE SKILLS:

Interpolating statistical data. Data visualisation (Excel, VBA, SQL, 'R')
Game coding (Sports Code)
Sport related report experience or journalism reporting experience
Attended a professional football club centre of excellence / academy
Played at least at high amateur level
Fluency in English plus fluency in at least one of the other: German, Spanish, French or Italian
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Undergraduate degree (essential) in a Sports related subject (desirable) Professional accreditation as a performance analyst (desirable) Completed or studying towards UEFA B license. FA CPD courses (desirable) Interested candidates should apply to Julia Gallasch, Michael Bailey Associates
